| In the summer of 2006, a series of outbreaks on cruise ships in European waters, caused by norovirus, led to ECDC’s participation in the outbreak investigation in collaboration with the EU-funded network DIVINE-NET, which is the European network for the prevention of emerging (food-borne) enteric viral infections. The final results of which were published in the scientific journal Emerging Infectious Diseases. Following this event, ECDC organised an expert consultation to review the current norovirus epidemiology in Europe to assess the actions needed to prevent and control future outbreaks in cruise ships, and to review the existing guidelines for prevention and control measures in cruise ships and other public settings. Read the meeting report | Euroopan vesillä risteilevillä risteilyaluksilla havaittiin kesällä 2006 useita noroviruksen aiheuttamia epidemioita, minkä johdosta ECDC osallistui epidemioiden tutkimiseen uusien (elintarvikkeiden välityksellä leviävien) suolistovirusten aiheuttamien tartuntatautien eurooppalaisen torjuntaverkoston, DIVINE-NETin, kanssa.
